Day 6: We left Hakone in the morning and took a train back to Tokyo. We
stayed at the same hotel (Shinjuku Washington Hotel) just so it's more
convenient. (I wouldn't want to figure out how to go from the hotel to the
metro station again haha!) We had nothing planned on this day, so it was a free
and easy shopping day. Initially we wanted to go to one of the few places
recommended by my cousin (Kamakura town, Torodoki valley, Nikko town,
Daikanyama and Nakameguro), but I can't remember why we didn't go. HAHAHAHA
OOPS. Sometimes I wish my family was more adventurous.
Cutesy parents' first selfie!!
By the time we reached Tokyo at noon, we were starving!! When we reached the hotel, we were told to wait for another hour before we could check in. So we quickly went to the basement of the hotel and ate at a udon place, which we always wanted to try since we got there on day 1. It didn't disappoint me at all. I'm not sure if I was too hungry or what, but the nabeyaki udon was sooooo delicious.
I think I gonna cook my own bowl of nabeyaki udon next time.
Camy's tonkatsu with rice.
We checked into our hotels and went to Shinjuku to do some shopping (again). We didn't get a lot of things because it's either too pricy or too wintery. We did get a few nonsensical stuff though, those cutesy cutesy things for our friends and family.
Merry (belated) Christmasu!
My giant hair bow from daiso hehe.
Anxious mum waiting for her husband who was gone hunting for his records (again!)
We couldn't wait any longer so we filled our stomachs with MR.waffle!
We bought the chocolate and earl grey waffles! I couldn't taste the difference between the two flavours though hahaha.
Finally met up with daddy and off we went for dinner at NANBANTEI, our family's favourite Japanese restaurant in Singapore. In case you don't know, there's an outlet at Far East Plaza so if you haven't tried it yet, I urge you to go RIGHT NOW HAHA. Anyway, we randomly came across this yakitori restaurant at one of the streets in Shinjuku and thought okay let's go and try! Only when we entered the restaurant, then we realised it was nanbantei. We were all excited to try the yakitori and see if it was comparable to Singapore's. And my verdict is.. Singapore's nanbantei is better as it has more variety choices, but the one in Shinjuku is pretty good too (plus the Japanese waiter was cute hehe). Except that there was some miscommunication. There were set meals available, so my family, being small eaters, we wanted to order 3 set meals (each consisting 10-12 sticks) and other side dishes to share. But, the waiter (who could barely speak English) insisted that ONE SET MEAL PER PERSON. We didn't wanna argue further, so we were forced to order a set meal each. Luckily, the food came slow, so we savoured every yakitori stick and didn't feel very full till the 10th stick. It took us exactly 2 hours to complete our meal. Wow. The only thing I dislike about the place (and every other yakitori restaurants) is that smoking is allowed. Grr I was unlucky enough to sit beside smoking customers yucks.
Sorry for no food pictures this time, we were too hungry and lazy.
Dad showing off his records while mummy looking very uninterested haha.
After dinner, daddy was so tired he went back to the hotel to rest (sigh, old man already!) while the girls continued to shop at Lumine. We spotted this Shu Uemera pop up store at Shinjuku station and got really excited. Everything was so pretty and colourful! I bought my eyelash curler for half the price sold in Singapore and got to choose either the photo booth or the kiap kiap machine aka UFO catcher.
Btw I was in love with this strawberry yoghurt drink when I was there. Any idea if I can get this in Singapore? It's so yummy, I drink it almost every other night!
Sorry for the lack of photos! I promise the next post will be ten times better because we went to DISNEYLAND!!!! Stay tuned to the next post bye!
