#theowstaketokyo day 1

Ohaiyo! At the end of last year, my family went on a vacation to Japan, mainly Tokyo and Hakone, from 29 November to 6 December 2013. It's always a dream of mine to go to Japan simply because I love Japanese food, fashion and the cutesy stuff there. It was a free and easy trip, so we could wake up at whatever timing and check out wherever places we want to go. Since it was my first time to Japan, I was thrilled!! *starts twirling around*

Day 0 (28 nov): As our flight was in the afternoon, it was already past midnight when we reached our hotel, which is Shinjuku Washington Hotel, a 15 min walk from the metro subway station. The hotel rooms were smaller than expected but since we were going to be out for more than half the day, we didn't care much. As long as we were able to bathe and sleep, we were fine with the space. The best thing about the hotel is there's free wifi (in the room) and a 24/7 family mart (which means supper yay)!

Day 1: Before lunch, we walked to Takashimaya Times Square (which was humongous btw) and Isetan to do some shopping.
Thereafter, we filled our tummies with yummy udon at this eatery called Chikuma, just beside Green Peas Pachinko building and opposite Taito Station at Shinjuku. We had to purchase ticket coupons first and passed it to the chefs before getting our food.
Taito station is a game arcade where it's flooded with Japanese students after school hours.
The price ranges from SGD$3-6. Compared to other restaurants, it's really affordable.
It's a standing noodle bar! It was so quiet, all I could hear was people slurping udon.
Because we couldn't understand Japanese, we only looked at the udon displays, matched the Japanese letters and purchased the coupon tickets accordingly. I thought mine was tempura udon but it turned out to be fishcake? Hahaha I'm not too sure either.. Nonetheless it was simple yet satisfying :)

In the evening, we took the metro subway train to Shibuya and I have to say that Japan's metro subway is REALLY CONFUSING. It took me a few days to get a hang of it.
I got really excited when I saw the giant GD poster at the Shibuya crossing! "THIS IS MAH COUP DE TAT"
Searched high and low and we finally found Disk Union, a music store that sells old and new records. Dad's latest obsession!
Dinner at Pomme's. The omelette rice was not bad. Apparently there are bigger portions other than the ones we had. I wonder which monster can finish it because I barely finished my meal.

That sums up day 1 of #theowstaketokyo!
